Whistle While You Work: Top 5 Hollywood Studios Music Tracks to Get You Through the Day

Okay, so I know I was going to post about Animal Kingdom next, but Tommy reminded me that I was not going in chronological order. So to be a true Disney fan, I’m going ahead with sharing my Top 5 Hollywood Studios tracks. It will always be MGM to me!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing a bit of an identity crisis at the moment, with many of its original areas and attractions lost and gone forever to make way for New Age Hollywood Studios. I have high hopes for Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land but a part of me will mourn Streets of America, Catastrophe Canyon, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids: Movie Set Adventure. RIP WDW of my youth.

Here are my Top 5 Hollywood Studios Music Tracks to Get You Through The Day:

1. Hollywood Boulevard

As soon as you go through those turnstiles, past the Crossroads of the World, you look straight down Hollywood Boulevard to see the Grauman’s Chinese Theater, shops and billboards evoking a simpler time. The glitz and glam of old Hollywood! The music brings you right into the movies as you scramble to figure out whether or not to start your day rushing right to Sunset Boulevard or right to Toy Story Midway Mania. If we were visiting between the years 2001 and 2015 our view would be a bit different. Who misses the Sorcerer Hat?

2. The Great Movie Ride

A beautiful tribute to the history of movies, The Great Movie Ride is a classic Hollywood Studios attraction, great for all ages. I have yet to see every single movie referenced in the attraction, but I love how they are so artfully recognized throughout the experience. This music is mainly film scores, but all it takes is a few bars to recognize music that has touched the lives of nearly everyone! “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is one of those songs. Sing along folks, you know the words!

3. Tower of Terror

“Hollywood, 1939. Amidst the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie talent at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right. A beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.” Wow. This music brings me RIGHT into the queue at Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This is hands down my favorite themed attraction in all of Walt Disney World. From the entrance gate, to walking through the gardens, to the hotel lobby, reading room, and boiler room, it sets the scene for an incredible story, striking fear in the hearts of those afraid of heights. I simply love this attraction and sincerely hope it doesn’t go anywhere (except down. And up. And down again.)

4. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aersosmith

I don’t know about you but the second I hear “Walk This Way” I think of a really fast car to get us across town for the Aerosmith show. I came upon this series of videos with the Aerosmith song mashups featured in the attraction depending on which “super stretch” you experience. I love thrills and I love hanging upside down to Aerosmith music. “THREE, TWO…!”

5. Fantasmic!

To cap off my list, and to cap off a great day at Hollywood Studios, I had to pic Fantasmic! I’ll admit, I’ve only seen Fantasmic a handful of times growing up because it is SUCH a production to wait around, find seats, and hope the show wasn’t canceled due to inclement weather. But it is definitely a nostalgic favorite, capturing all the classic Disney films in one epic nighttime spectacular!

Did I miss your favorite? Let me know! Up next: Disney’s Animal Kingdom (for real this time)!

Until next time, #willrunfordisney!
