Chicago Marathon Training Pt III

Back in action this week! I followed my coach’s training plan to a T. Or should I say, an “L”. Ha ha. That’s the subway system used in Chicago. It’s really starting to feel real, though I have a solid 2+ months of training ahead. Here’s how it went this past week:

To anyone who has been following my journey, you know how much I love my treadmill studio. That’s how I got to know this amazing community of runners and my incredibly supportive and encouraging coach. Find yourself a fitness community and you won’t want to let them down!

Of course I had to start my week back in the swing with a treadmill class! Kettle bells, strength, some Tabata, mixed with running on the treads of course. It felt great to get back!

Mid-week I did a semi-long run with 1.5 mile intervals. DANG those were hard. Short intervals, sure. But mentally getting around something that long is tough, so I know this is a great area of improvement. 6.5 miles later, running all over Boston, I met up with some friends for drinks to catch up!

A massive rum tiki drink was in order

I hit up a barre class for some more strength training and then hit the pavement early Saturday to try and beat the heat with my 14 mile prescription. Urgh it was so hot and humid. I decided to let the miles come and go, and take my time, stopping along the way for water, fuel and to buy a nice, cold Gatorade. I was so glad when it was all over. Haha.

Have I mentioned that summer training is brutal?

I celebrated the true beginning of my weekend (post-run) by going to see Ant Man & The Wasp with Tommy. I LOVED it! Reviews kept saying it was better than the first, and I think I agree. It was funny, charming, and had a great storyline without being too complicated or silly.

It feels great to check off every workout for the week. Let’s see how next week goes!

Until then,
