WDW Marathon Training Update

It’s December! That means we’re only a FEW weeks from our big race weekend. Time is FLYING. I hope everyone is enjoying time with family, holiday festivities, and of course the treats that come with the season. I also hope everyone’s training is going well and that you are all feeling confident about your abilities. After months of training I’m definitely starting to feel like finishing a marathon is becoming more of a reality! Here’s what my training week looked like:

Monday: 3 miles. Gasp, no treadmill workout for me this week! I was still in New York and took the train home Monday evening, so I squeezed in my miles first thing in the morning to start the week off right. After a weekend of binge eating Thanksgiving leftovers, Italian food, and other delicious, salty foods, I was glad to get back on track.

THE Tree at Rockefeller Center!

Tuesday: 5 miles. 5 miles before work really sets the tone for the rest of the day. Plus, when I got home I knew I had to do the chores I usually do on Sundays: groceries, laundry, clean, cook, gah. While I ran errands, Tommy setup the Christmas decorations! It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas in our apartment!

Oh Asics Tree, Oh Asics Tree!

Wednesday: 4 miles. It was slightly warmer than usual, which I enjoyed! Again, I managed to do this run before work to clear my mind and help me prepare for the day.

Thursday: Rest. I should have run a couple miles since I was a bit of a slacker this weekend, but I was exhausted from work, errands, and just getting back into my running routine. It’s amazing how quickly you can feel slow and tired just by taking a couple days off!

Friday: Strength Training: Barre. Because of a work obligation, I had to take an earlier class than usual (Zzzz) but it was so worth it. I felt energized and relaxed for the rest of the day. And after months of practice, I feel like I’m really getting the hang of the movements! It still is quite the challenging workout, regardless!

Saturday: 18 miles. I was supposed to do 18 last week and 12 this week, but because I was away and made the decision to “skip” the long run, here I was again at 18 miles. The first 6-7 were ROUGH. I just wasn’t feeling it but knew I had to push through. By the time I hit the halfway mark I was feeling confident again- and managed to have a personal best! It’s so interesting how running works like that sometimes! After some rest and eating everything in sight, Tommy and I spent the evening at our friends’ house for a Christmas party. I was falling asleep by 10PM!

Sunday: Rest. And by rest I mean laundry and errands!

Overall, I was happy with how my week ended up, and I am thrilled to be back on schedule. How was your training week? Let’s make next week an even better one!

Until next time,
Will Run for Disney

Glad to see I wasn't the only one struggling this week! I also did 18 mikes, the first half was a big struggle, but by my last 5 mile Loop I was way beyond my ideal pace! I also was at a friends Christmas Party falling asleep by 1030! Congrats on another week done! Almost to taper time!!
